Libraries

Public libraries are natural gathering places for community members. Because public libraries strive to be for everyone, they allow for voices to be included that might be otherwise marginalized or excluded. Libraries have the power to bring people of varying social locations, backgrounds, perspectives, and beliefs together. Public libraries provide a service of socialization that can be deepened when paired with civil dialogue programming. When bridging organizations and libraries work together, we have unlimited potential to bridge divides and expand our community impact!

"Expungement Think Tank" Event Recap:

Members from the Kansas City Library gathered for the “Expungement Think Tank” event, hosted by the Clear My Record Project at UMKC’s School of Law to increase awareness around expungements and the collateral consequences surrounding a criminal record.

Facilitator Jenny Garmon  lead the discussion by using the Living Room Conversation Guide.
